V5 concepts

A V5 Knowledge Image is a portable, mountable artifact for committed knowledge and bounded runtime state. The byte contracts are KIP-0001 through KIP-0026 in the specification index. Composition and Cortex do not change those contracts.

The container includes:

  • Dual superblocks, generation-based recovery, and an active commit pointer.
  • Immutable object and event segments.
  • A commit record with parent, object, event, view, schema, policy, runtime, and sequence roots.
  • Per-section bounds and digests.
  • Fail-closed checks for required sections, offsets, overlaps, duplicate sections, integer overflow, and digest mismatches.
  • Forward-compatible handling of unknown optional sections.
Exampletext
Objects + events + policy → V5 Knowledge Image → Verify · Query · Inspect · Run

Knolo Hub lists public images. You pin a digest and mount the bytes locally. Hub does not run the query.

VQF-1 physical compression is a draft optional encoding. It preserves logical roots and is not part of the frozen container. See VQF-1.
